The 2008 - the Dutch Student Traders Trophy is a competition among students from top universities who compete to become the best student ‘trader’ in the Netherlands. Performance is evaluated on profitability, market awareness, client service and risk management. A worldwide acclaimed securities trading simulation developed by MarketSims will be used for this competition.
The competition will be open to students studting at the following universities:
- Universiteit van Amsterdam
- Vrije Universiteit
- Rijksuniversiteit Groningen
- Universiteit Maastricht
- Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam
- Universiteit van Tilburg
- Universiteit Utrecht
The trading simulation used in the Trading Trophy gives the participants the opportunity to be active in a dealing room environment. A full day of trading is simualted in a two hour session. Up to 40 laptops are connected into a virtual dealing room where the students trade against each other and fictive market players. Participants must show market awareness by following the market movements and the news and set a strategy for their trading. At the same time they will have to answer calls from clients and give quotes.
The pre-rounds will be organised in cooperation with the student association of the respective universities. The following date have been set for de pre-round in Groningen:
