Steven Keuning

Steven Keuning is Director General Human Resources, Budget and Organisation at the European Central Bank. Moreover, he is Chairman of the Human Resources Conference of the European System of Central Banks and member of its Budget Committee.

Previously, he was Director General Statistics at the European Central Bank, Director of Macro-economic Statistics and Dissemination at Statistics Netherlands and Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the European System of Central Banks, of the European Committee on Monetary, Financial and Balance-of-Payments Statistics (CMFB) and of the Investment Committee of the International Statistical Institute. In addition, he was the Vice-Chairman of the Global (Irving Fischer) Committee on Central Bank Statistics and a member of the European Economic and Financial Committee’s sub-committee on statistics.

He graduated in economics from Rotterdam University and his Ph.D. thesis on Accounting for Economic Development and Social Change was later published as a book. He has published articles and chapters on central bank statistics, national, social, environmental and government accounting issues, on the interaction between national accounts and socio-economic policy, on the relationship between productivity growth and shifts in the income distribution, and on the role of financial capital in production.
