Senior Manager Corporate Risk Management DSM

René van Beekum (1950) established his career at Royal DSM NV, an international Life Sciences and Material Sciences Company. He started in auditing and held different positions in the area of Control, Business Processes, ERP systems and Risk Management; he was involved in large-scale implementation and change management processes. 

Since January 2007, he holds the position of Senior Manager Corporate Risk Management, this department reports directly to the CFO. René van Beekum was heavily involved in the design and implementation of the Risk Management System at Royal DSM. The backbone of this Risk Management System consists of Corporate Requirements and Standard Business Processes with a strong focus on identification of common risks, common control designs, embedded controls and control monitoring. Further he was responsible for the program management of a DSM global compliance and implementation project called “True Blue”.

René van Beekum was connected to the University of Maastricht as lecturer in risk management and internal control and is still actively involved in training programs

and seminars of the Dutch Institute for Certified Auditors (VERA/CI). He was member of the supervisory board of a Dutch social housing corporation and is active in advisory and training programs with respect to governance, risk management and compliance.
